About Dunbar Cricket Club?

Dunbar Cricket Club (DCC) was founded in 2002 by a group of cricket loving Dunbar residents, who managed to secure facilities for friendly and competitive matches at the Dunbar Oval, Hallhill Healthy Living Centre.

DCC take part in up to 18 ESCA league matches per season, from Largo in Fife to Peebles, plus a variety of midweek friendly matches.

In season 2010 Dunbar Cricket Club secured promotion to ESCA Division 6, finishing in the top 4 of Division 7. Season 2011 will prove a challenge and the hope is to cement our position in Division 6.

In season 2009 Dunbar consolidated our position in Division 7 and looked to push forward in 2010 to gain promotion to Division 6. Winning competitions is not, however all that the club is about. We firmly believe that it is important to play an active role in the community. We have an inclusive policy and welcome ALL ages and abilities, male and female.

We run regular weekend sessions for youngsters throughout the cricketing season, with a qualified cricket coach
. We have also agreed to participate in cricket initiation and training sessions at Dunbar Grammar School where we have installed our own indoor Nets.

We also believe strongly in advancing the fair-play ethos of the game which in 2008 resulted in our fellow league competitors awarding us the fair-play trophy.

We are always looking for new members, who are interested in learning, playing and/or joining us in a number of other capacities. Age and ability is absolutely NO barrier!

If you, or any of your family and friends would be interested in finding out more about Dunbar Cricket Club, please contact us through the CONTACT page on this website and a member of the club will be in touch.

Training and Practice Sessions...

Training sessions take place at 3 different venues listed below;

Hallhill Healthy Living Centre - The DCC Oval (synthetic crease) for outdoor batting and fielding practice.

Dunbar Grammar School - For indoor sessions in the nets.

Belhaven Hill Grammar School - For outdoor sessions in the nets.

Training & Practice sessions take place on Thursday nights and normally begin at 6:30pm (this is subject to change).

New Indoor Nets Installed...

Season 2008 saw the first use of Dunbar Cricket Clubs very own indoor cricket nets. The nets were installed in Dunbar   Grammar School in autumn 2007 following the award of a grant of £10,000 from Sportsawardsforall (East Lothian Council also helping with a contribution).

The two nets are current state of the art full length with protection for both batsmen and bowlers which retract up against the Gym Hall ends with minimal impact on the Halls other uses.

First use was in January 2008 followed by several more weeks as and when required until the weather improved!

It is hoped in winter 2008/2009 that we will be able to utilise the nets more for coaching of children at both Junior (P3 - P7) and Senior level with the aim of eventually having a full junior section and club at the school
